Celia makes hand built ceramics. These are usually large bowls and vessels built up from large coils, as has been done for millennia, before the wheel was invented. She learned to do this when she was living in Kenya and her work has a strong African theme although she is also influenced by ancient Greek pottery and the Mediterranean where she grew up.

The pots are burnished to a soft sheen, then fired in a raku kiln. The firing process is very dramatic. It is based on an ancient Japanese technique that involves taking the pot out of the kiln when it is red hot, resulting in interesting and often unpredictable effects on the final surface.

Directions : From the motorway between Paphos and Limassol, exit towards Aphrodite Hills Resort – it is well sign-posted. Pass underneath the fly-over and turn left, again following the signs. When entering the resort, turn right at the hotel roundabout along Evagoras Lanitis Avenue and continue straight until you reach the bottom of the western plateau and begin to climb up the eastern plateau. From the little bridge between the two, Acheon Street is the 5th turning on your left and number 27 is on the left hand side.
