Artistic Summer News

I hope you are all staying cool and creating lots of lovely work. I have been hard at work to make the website a better place to be and to visit - I would love to hear your views. The only snag is that it is not listing artists in strictly alphabetical order - each new artist is added ON, and not added IN. Unfortunately it is a design foible which I cannot correct.

With immediate effect, we will be using a new email address and the old one ( will be faded out. The new one is - PLEASE use the new one in future.

There is also a blog tab on the websiste now where all posts will be shown by month. You may access it through the website or go directly to - I'm still learning how to do this!

The map will be further fine-tuned to show different coloured pins for the different areas of Cyprus. But please be patient ...

We have also got the dates finalised for the November exhibition : 13 to 23 November - BOTH DATES INCLUDED.  (Sorry, Penny! There was no other option.) The venue will once again be ZANTE Bar and Restaurant, 8 kms outside Limassol on the Troodos road; it is in easy reach from all directions, with a lot of passing traffic - let's bring them in!

This exhibition is aimed at providing affordable art to the pre-Christmas market. I would love to hear your views on what would be regarded as "affordable art" - what price range should we aim at? There will be provision made for crafts as well as arts but remember that smaller items might get feet and walk out the door when the exhibition is not 'guarded'. It is a busy restaurant and Arist (the owner) will not be able to be on duty in the exhibition area all the time. We will have in-depth discussions on the content, method of exhibiting, opening evening event, brochure and promotional material. I will welcome all help offered as I certainly cannot launch such an event on my own!

I must insist that all participants MUST be members of and membership fees paid for 2014 (or part of the year). If you have yet to comply with paying your dues, don't wait too long or you will miss the boat!

Promotional material and advertising will hit the papers and magazines during September, October and November - let's have a great exhibition in November and build on this platform to create greater awareness of what we do here on our Island of Love!

Arist has very kindly extended an invitation to artists to use the exhibition space to do demonstrations, workshops, WORK, or just camp out for a day or more. If you are interested, please let me know when you would like to park yourself at Zante and I will publicise it as much as possible - you will be listed as "Artist in Residence" for the period you will be available to interact with the public. Arist has also said that the artist in residence will be treated to a complementary lunch! This arrangement will be in operation BETWEEN official exhibitions BUT if anyone is interested in doing this DURING an exhibition, it would provide a 'resident guard' as well!

I am really looking forward to hearing your comments and suggestions, either in the comments block OR send me an email to the new email address.

With best wishes for a successful and rewarding creative time,

Maria Etheridge  :
